Still K-State

Kansas State had a week off after the WVU game, and they used it well.

They had Texas in Bramlage the next Saturday. This game would be quite different from the first meeting. The Cats brought their A-game to this one, and they won easily 74-57. The Longhorn victory was very quickly followed by a huge game against the Jayhawks. Kansas came into the game #1 in the RPI, #7 in the AP poll, and with only one loss in the Big 12. They were outplayed by the Cats for the first 37 minutes of the game and needed a big rally to force overtime. In the end the cats pulled out a big victory over a huge opponent, and every player played to their full normal potential

They had a lot of momentum now, and they took that momentum into Waco when they faced Baylor. The only problem was that they did not finish the game. Baylor was outplayed all game long until the very end when a buzzer beater 3 from Brady Heslip sent the game into overtime. The first overtime turned into a second, and the second was just embarrassing for Wildcat fans. They were outscored in the second overtime 19-5.

They had an easy home game against TCU to recover for another big test OU. Oklahoma was a team that we couldn't beat convincingly at home and therefore a team that we would have a hard time beating on the road. The first half of that game was the most maddening K-State game I had ever seen. The Cats were down 41-22 at halftime and they basically had no hope by that point. The Sooners couldn't miss a shot all game and ended up hitting ten threes and scoring 86 in the game. The only bright spot in that game is that State had a 51-point second half.
So yay!

The next game was a good win against Texas Tech on the road that prepared us for a big home game against Iowa State. The Cyclones were ranked number 15 in the AP poll and they had the record to match. They have 9 wins against the top 50 in the RPI and they also beat us. So yeah. We played a good game and really outscored ourselves with 80 points.(The most scored in regulation since Dec. 1 against Central Arkansas.)

The next game was against the surging OSU Cowboys, but since I don't want to talk about it- just think about the fact that 77 is a bigger number than 61.

The season finale had finally come. The last game that Will Spradling (my basketball role-model), Shane Southwell, Omari Lawrence, and Ryan Schultz would play in the "Octagon of DOOM." It was my birthday and everything, so naturally I postponed all celebrations to watch the game. I even got an email from ESPN that said "May your favorite team not lose on your birthday." Foster ended with 29 points and Nino Williams with 15. BUT WE STILL LOST. Spradling had a horrible final game as far as scoring and Shane and Omari did little better.

So Yeah. The regular season could have gone better but the Cats have a 5-seed in the Big 12 Tournament and they are basically a lock for the National Tournament. Hope they do well.
